Firefox notifies me that I'm not running the latest version (I have 3.6.24 GTB7.1) and to download the version compatible with my older system (Mac Tiger 10.4.11). I click on that link and can find nothing that states what systems the version(s) there are compatible with. I have in the past downloaded and installed an incompatible version, a situation to avoid for obvious reasons.
Firefox For Mac 10.4 11 Download
I'm running Mac OS X 10.4.11 "Intel," TenFourFox doesn't help with that. Whenever I load Firefox it tells me to upgrade to 12.0 for security reasons. 12.0 is most definitely not compatible with the version of OS X on my MacBook Pro. Then when I try to register for the forums on this site to address these issue (which they recommend to do on here), I am told I can't sign up because I am running an old version of Firefox. Could that possibly be more annoying considering the reason I'm trying to register in the first place? Anyways, do you have any recommendations or does Forefox just not concern themselves with the affairs of people who can't afford to buy new computers?
I have the same complaint. Firefox automatically "upgraded" for me, without asking, and it doesn't run since I have macosX 10.4.11. This is super-annoying. I stayed with Tiger for multiple reasons, even tho this happens to be an intel machine, and that should be my choice whether to install Lion/Leopard or not. Plus I have an old Macbook ppc which won't run the recent os's. Now I am on Safari since my favorite browser, Firefox, has committed suicide or rather replaced itself by a useless copy which refuses to run with this OS. Are you geniuses to allow the thing to install where it is not welcome? Plus, if you try to submit a comment on the Firefox page, it says you have to do it FROM the firexox brower. Brilliant!!!
The link you have posted does not work. It say's Firefox 3.6 is out of date with no download option. I'm also running 10.4.11. This is very frustrating as I had a ton of bookmarks and everything on Firefox and that stuff doesn't transfer. Thanks for your support firefox.
To get Firefox for Mac 10.4.11 you need to download Firefox 3.6.28 for Mac which is the last version of Firefox to support PowerPC (PPC) Macs. Mozilla has dropped support for Mac OS X 10.4 but Firefox 3.6.28 still works on PPC Macs. Important Note: Running Firefox 3.6.28 on a Mac poses a serious security threat to your Mac. Mozilla no longer issues security updates for it and it has many vulnerabilities that are not suited to surfing online anymore. In addition, Apple no longer supports OS X 10.4 or 10.5 so you run an even greater security risk by using both OS X 10.4 and Firefox 3.6.28.
The 10.4.11 Update is recommended for all users running Mac OS X Tiger and includes general operating system fixes that enhance the stability, compatibility and security of your Mac. This update also includes Safari 3, the latest version of Apple's web browser.
Web technology has advanced a lot in the years since OSX 10.4 was used and Tiger's version of Safari is too far out of date to access most websites today. None of the major browsers support 10.4, but I believe there is a modified version of Firefox or Chrome which has been made to work with older versions of macOS.
Another option may be to upgrade macOS to 10.11 El Capitan if your Mac meets the hardware requirements, but you may first need to upgrade to OSX 10.6 Snow Leopard by purchasing a retail version of 10.6 Snow Leopard DVD (one with a black label). Then if your Mac supports macOS 10.11 you can try installing it. If you can get your Mac online to access the Apple website, then you could try downloading the macOS 10.11 installer from here and try creating a bootable USB installer. I have no idea if the 10.11 installer will even allow you to install it to the Applications folder or whether the "createinstallmedia" tool will work with a version of macOS that is so old. Running OSX 10.6 first is likely a requirement.
To screen web web pages, Firefox utilizes the Gecko design engine, which implements most current web standards in add-on to many features which are usually intended to anticipate likely improvements to the specifications. TenFourFox is a quick, efficient Internet browser usually centered on the current version of Firéfox, but unlike thé primary distribution TenFourFox will be compatible with OS Times 10.4 and 10.5 running on PowerPC processors. It arrives in different tuned variations for particular PowerPC processor chip families:.
You can change it back again from the choices page. 10.4Fa does not really currently help WebGL, WebRTC, the Internet Talk API or thé webapp runtime, ánd scripts like as Persia or Indic needing glyph reordering ór language-specific Iigatures may not really appear properly without OpenType ór Graphite fonts (find problem 5 for even more info). TenFourFox intentionally utilizes a different chrome for home windows and dialogue containers than preceding versions or the public Mac pc Firefox.
Bitmap-onIy fonts (usually Kind 1 PostScript) cannot become utilized by the 10.4Fback button font renderer and are usually automatically ignored by the internet browser. A fallback font will end up being utilized in their place. Facebook 'like' options may show up blank, also though they can nevertheless end up being clicked on and used.

After updating from 3.6 to newer version we could able to set the home page to google with firefox logo as it would like in 3.6 showing all the links over top and the firefox image center with the google search how to set to this
Charles, see my post of today 7/17. Open Safari, go to YouTube site and turn on HTML5 to replace the non-upgradable Adobe Flash. Your Safari is ancient like mine (10.4.11 version), but will still stream video without Adobe Flash, unlike Firefox. Change your default browser to Safari instead of Firefox, you should be back in biz. Good luck.
Hi BD: thanks for your help in getting my iBook up and running. It is the laptop I am going to try Firefox on, and I had to get back on the Airport Extreme, which meant getting OSX 10.4.11 back on it, which required clearing out the partitions and dealing with an OSX disk that did not want to work, but also meant that I had to repair the plug on the power cord. The last is a problem because the outer shield on the old cable does not want to take solder! So I am ordering a new power block from one of the Mac vendors. Then I will try firefox and get back to you. thanks again...bob.c
TenFourFox requires a G3 Power Macintosh, Mac OS X v10.4.11 or Mac OS X v10.5.8, 100MB of free disk space and 256MB of RAM. Video playback will be poor on systems slower than 1.25GHz; we recommend a G5. Intel Macintoshes are not supported (and will be mercilessly mocked).
System requirements to run TenFourFox are a PowerPC G3, Mac OS X 10.4.11 or Mac OS X 10.5.8, 100 MB of disk space, and 256MB of RAM. Performance is apparently really fast, although they do caution that video playback will be poor on PowerPC Macs that are slower than 1.2GHz.
We have new Firefox 4 Tor Browser Bundles available for OS X. (Worry not, users of other operating systems, your turn is coming in the next few days!) They come in 64- and 32-bit versions, and one important fix for 10.6 64-bit users is that Firefox no longer crashes on initial startup. These are alpha, but they are going to be a permanent addition to the Tor Browser Bundle family and will be maintained from now on. You can download them here:
Attempted to install Vidalia Bundle on Mac OS X 10.4.11 on PowerPC (iBook G3). Mac OS X Tiger is the last version of Mac to run on a G3 processor. Neither the stable nor unstable bundle work: the Vidalia icon pops into the watchamacallit-bar-thing at the bottom of the screen for a moment before immediately vanishing.
My mac runs 10.4.11 and can't be upgraded.... it's a decent machine I see no reason not upgrade but then folks like yourselves do stuff like this..!!! Please a version for power pc's would be nice, there are a lot of us out there... 8-)
I have a Mac Powerbook G4, running OS X 10.5.8. I'm getting messages from Google that Firefox is an old version and needs updating - so I went to the Firefox website and the message said that "Unfortunately the latest version of Firefox isn't compatible with your computer's operating system. Learn more." When I click Learn More, it says that Firefox only works with OS X 10.5 and 10.6...The auto-update box for Firefox is greyed out and un-clickable in Firefox preferences, there's no manual download that I can find - how can I make Firefox recognize my OS and allow me to upgrade? Many thanks. 2ff7e9595c
